Fat Face Festival.
Phase 1 - blag some kit (Freewave 95 & Duke 5.9m)
Phase 2 - rig it and try it out
Phase 3 - realise having too much fun testing the blagged it, and race 1 is heading off the beach as I'm casually heading back in .... so sailed in, then back out and around the course, and back in. Wasn't really bothered about result so didn't go rushing up the funnel ... then realised ought to take my tally back. Grabbed my flip-flops, ambled round to finish line, and apologised for my lethargy.
Phase 4 - get back on the water and have some fun. Had a cracking session, although it was proper busy on the water ! I sailed upwind towards the sandbar but it didn't seem to be doing much, and there was the added inconvenience of the kiters doing their bit in the corner. Opted to stay out of their way, as they were staying out of ours so fair is fair.
Sailed back down to the event site, and decided to change down to 5.3m Ice I'd blagged.
Planned to do 3rd race, having completely missed 2nd one playing about. Having rigged the 5.3m in the nick of time, got myself ready to sneak into the line up before realising I'd not got my tally ..... so hung back waiting for them to clear the beach so I could go for another freesail. It was to be a long wait as all sorts of kit and bodies were being washed back up the beach for an eternity, and being on borrowed toys, it would have been a little rude for me to return it in pieces so took a late lunch.
Super day, and image of the day must be the tandem coming into the beach through the shorebreak ... I'd not seen them go out, but they deserve massive respect for their efforts !
Good work, and nice to see everyone there.
